Yong Tau Foo is a dish made by stuffing fish paste (main ingredient) in tofu, okra, bitter gourd, chilli peppers, eggplants, and bean curd skin.
The fish paste is made from Spanish Mackerel fish meat OR the combination of mackerel fish meat and surimi.
Ingredients list:
Filling (fish paste):
- Spanish Mackerel fish meat/Surimi
- corn starch
- fish sauce
- salt
- sugar
Gravy or Soup:
- chicken broth
- dried anchovies
- salt
- sugar
Tofu and Vegetables:
- white tofu
- fried tofu puffs
- butter gourd
- eggplant
- okra
- red chilli pepper
Hoisin sauce:
- hoisin sauce paste
- water
Just stuff the filling into vegetables or tofu, and then boil or fry it and it is ready to eat.
It is healthy and delicious!
The dish has a soup and dry version, both are nice, the soup usually comes with thick gravy and the fried version is crispy and crunchy.
To eat, just take the Yong Tau Foo and dip it into hoisin or chilli sauce before putting it into your mouth!
